This review is "not" made by Michaela Douglas but rather Tammy Loeffler -not sure why my daughter's name has been added automatically on " my computer". These are by no means her opinion but mine as well as my experience. Re-homing My Little Man - Max (September 13/2017) I had taken my little chihuahua in as he had severe diarrhea as well as a severe patella dislocation that I had been told on a previously visit that it would cost $2000.00 to get it repaired in Calgary. When I went in that day, I was wanting Max put down as I could not afford the cost of the surgery due to the disastrous financial impact all my medical trips to Edmonton were costing nor could I even get him to Calgary for the surgery due to my poor vision. I want my dear dog to be with Jesus in Heaven as this would give me peace and closure as I have a debilitating autoimmune disorder. They suggested that I re-home him. I was asked to sign the "form" no one sat down with me or read it to me. I was in no shape as I was severely emotionally distraught about my dog, ill myself that day with diarrhea as well and medically giving the fact that I was undergoing chemotherapy for my debilitating autoimmune disorder to make a truly "informed" decision about my best friend's future. Looking back, I wish the Vet Staff would have suggested that they keep Max for a couple of days and that I think about, I should have had a third party present when I signed the form, I should have taken him to another Vet to get a second opinion. I inquired about him a couple of times and was told that due to the release I had signed they were not permitted to give out information about him or his new family. A couple weeks later, I received an email to confirm Max's Dental Surgery I was in such a distraught state and furious how could this happen? I asked my daughter to phone. On two previous occasion's Max's teeth had been examined at this Vet and I was told they were great considering his age and that he was a small dog. He needed knee surgery not the trauma of just being re-homed and then dental surgery. I don't know if this was a computer glitch or a staffing error that I was notified via email. Every time that I came to the Clinic, there were new front end staff being trained and given the emails I have received they rely heavily on an automated computerized system not personal and leaves it wide open for disastrous errors like I experienced. This has been one of the most devastating experiences of my life. Max sat on my lap all day while I worked from home and slept in bed with me every night. I work in the Health Care System perhaps someone should look at establishing a free respite program for someone that is in a situation like mine. For anyone that is looking at re-homing their animal, you never have closure and you grieve for them every day. As someone, that has never re-homed an animal before, I believe Vet Clinics should have more like an open adoption process so the old family can know that their dearly beloved pet are in good hands and can receive video and pictures from the new family and the old family can also provide the new family with valuable information about their pet otherwise you never have closure. If you are reading this and you are the one that has adopted my beloved Max-a-Moo please consider getting in touch with me. I love you max-a-moo..you are such a "good boy". I miss your love and kisses every day. Tammy
